Barcelona and Juventus target Verratti intends to play for 'top club' in Spain or Italy

The highly-rated midfielder remains committed to Paris Saint-Germain for now, but has left the door ajar for a big-money move to be made in the future

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has conceded that he intends to play for a “top team” in Spain or Italy at some stage.

The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the French capital, with the likes of Barcelona and Juventus among his many admirers.

Verratti has batted the transfer speculation away at regular intervals, maintaining that he is happy in Ligue 1 for now, but he has left the door open for a future switch to be made.

He told Tuttosport when quizzed on his interest in playing in La Liga or Serie A: "I would like to, I can definitely see it.

"But it has to be a top team, whether that be in our country or in Spain.

"But at the moment, I am at PSG and I am happy with the role I have in my team."

Juventus are reported to be plotting a big-money bid for Verratti this summer, but the Italy international is reluctant to be drawn on such talk.

He has, however, aired his admiration for a side that hold a 2-0 lead heading into the second leg of their Champions League semi-final tie with Monaco.

"If there is one team who could trouble Real Madrid with their organisation, it is Juventus,” added Verratti.

"There are players like [Paulo] Dybala and [Gonzalo] Higuain who can decide the game in one moment.

"Allegri's 4-2-3-1? I like the way Juventus play a lot and the team Max is picking, but I am a PSG player.

"I don't want to say anything else, I'm talking as a spectator."

Verratti left his homeland for Paris in 2012 having burst onto the scene in Serie B with Pescara.

He is now just two appearances short of 200 for PSG, with 14 trophies secured over the course of those outings.
