Wenger to be handed huge transfer budget
Following the news that Arsene Wenger has
been handed a new two year deal by Arsenal, he
is now set to be given a £100 million transfer
budget to spend this summer, with expectations
that the long term manager will once again
turn The Gunners into title contenders.
The club officially announced that Wenger will
stay at the club on Wednesday, which was
greeted by mixed emotions from the club's
supporters. Attention will now turn to how
Arsene Wenger can transform his current squad into one that can seriously compete for the Premier League title.
The club will not have Champions League football next season, meaning that despite all of his experience, Arsene Wenger will now have to learn to cope with the dreaded Thursday night Europa League fixtures, after the club finished in fifth place.
The Daily Star reports that Wenger is preparing a squad overhaul, with Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere, David Ospina, Carl Jenkinson and Mathieu Debuchy likely to be shown the exit door at The Emirates. Another issue that the long- term Arsenal manager has to deal with is the futures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, who look likely to demand extortionate salaries in order to stay at the club, if they stay at all.
Wenger is said to be very keen on keeping hold of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain too, but the England international may prefer a move away from the club.
